Lent Course Mondays at 7.30pm starting 27th February (repeated Thursdays at 1 pm)
‘The Road to Maturity’  A six week personal growth course

The aim of this course is personal growth and transformation into the image of Jesus.

"Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ." Eph. 4:11-13 (NLT).

The Holy Sprit is always at work to help us to bring about this transformation (2 Cor.3:18). But it is vital that we play our part too. God works wholeness in us and we have to work it out in our lives (Phil.2:12-13). Our part includes seeking to identify, admitting and removing, with the help of God, any blockages to growth.

Jesus said that sometimes the good seed of the Kingdom being sown in our lives fails to take root because of stones in the ground, or to grow because surrounding weeds choke it (Matt.4:1-8)

During these six weeks we hope to identify those weeds and boulders and start removing them so that we may become mature in Christ.

True maturity is becoming like Jesus. It is God's plan and purpose for us.

The course will start on Monday 27th February starting at 7.30pm and ending by 9pm (repeated on Thursdays at 1pm). There will be a DVD presentation and an opportunity to meet in groups to discuss and to study the Bible and pray together.

ADVANCE NOTICE - Church Weekend Away – Theme - ‘Running the Race’
We will once again be having a local church weekend away at St. John's school. It will take place from Friday 29th June - Sunday 1st July and there
will be a great mix of teaching, worship, a separate programme for children and young people and plenty of time to enjoy the summer sun and one
another’s company. You can see from the title that there’s a link with the Olympics but don’t worry – this weekend can be as active or relaxing as you feel like! There will once again be the opportunity to camp on site or just come in each day.
This year we are going to do the catering ‘in house’ so if you would like to be involved please contact Anne Dowman.

Big Band for Mothering Sunday 18th March -

Café update -
the café celebrated its first birthday in style on Tuesday 17th January. In the first year we have served over 7,000 customers! We give thanks to God for this new and exciting ministry, to the managers and the volunteers and the customers. If you would like to enquire about joining the team (for as a little as one session a month) please contact Ruth or Trevor Stamp cafe@stjohnsipswich.org.uk

Lunch Club helpers required Every Monday 30+ elderly folk arrive at the Hall for coffee, chat and perhaps Scrabble and then sit down to a two course cooked meal. We have an urgent need for helpers to assist in this ministry, as 3 of our helpers have had to step down. If you could help, it would be on a monthly rota. Please have a word with Jenny Coley or Gemma Richards or any of the other helpers or cooks for more information.

Café. We are planning a youth drop in at the café on Wednesdays 3.30-5.30 and are looking for someone to help Duncan as an additional adult (not to serve the coffee) – please get in touch with Duncan

Used postage stamps. We are collecting stamps, including foreign, for donation to the St. Elizabeth Hospice, Ipswich. Please place in the box on the table at the back of the church. Thank you for your support.
