Lunch Club

In 1999, a member of the church had a vision that we needed to provide a service to the elderly and, after a lot of planning, the lunch club started in May 2000. The lunch club is open to everyone, whether a church goer or not and they don't have to live in the parish. We have up to 40 members who attend.
The lunch club is held every Monday during school term and is run by volunteers. We have drivers who collect and deliver home those who have mobility problems. We have four groups of helpers / drivers which means that volunteers are on duty usually once every four weeks.
Members arrive around 10.30am and can play Scrabble, cards or simply chat over a cup of tea. Lunch is a two course meal and is over by about 1.30pm.
Once a month the members are invited to join others and take part in a communion service and each week they can join a bible session for half an hour. These are up to the the individual if they wish to attend.
We have an outing each year and usually go to The Hut at Felixstowe, with a fish and chip lunch on the sea front. We hire a coach, with a lift, to take us there and back again.
Christmas time we invite all the helpers and drivers, together with the members and enjoy a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings.
It is lovely to see people arrive each week and make new friendships in a warm, friendly and Christian environment.
