Welcome to St. John's .... knowing..... growing.... serving St. John’s is a Christian community (part of the Church of England Denomination) made up of ordinary people of all ages who are seeking to know our extraordinary God and make His love known to people in our local area. We hope to do this by growing in our relationship with God and with one another and by serving others. We try to follow the challenge that Jesus gave when he was asked what was the greatest commandment:- He replied ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind’, and ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ We work together with churches across the wider area of Ipswich, and you can find out what is happening here and we are part of the wider Church of England denomination in this county and beyond. We follow in the footsteps of Christians over two millennia who have worshipped God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit and we seek to follow God by exploring and learning from the bible and basing our lives on its teaching. We are a member church of the Evangelical Alliance and this link will outline what we believe in . To know God better we meet week by week to learn from the bible and to worship Him ‘in spirit and in truth’. We regularly host Start! courses where anyone is welcome to come and explore the basics of the Christian faith. Many of us belong to small groups where we seek to apply God’s words to our lives and support one another through prayer. We seek to cater for people of all ages and deliberately have a range of Sunday services and midweek activities to encourage people with different needs and at different stages of their lives. In all we do we place a high emphasis on prayer, worship and the relevant teaching of God’s word. We hope that everyone at St. John’s is on a journey of growing in their relationship with God and we try to help by providing opportunities for people to grow:- in prayer through an annual weekend retreat, in marriage relationships through ‘The Marriage Course’, to be equipped to reach out into their workplaces, to help children and young people experience God’s love through an annual Holiday Club and weekly junior and youth clubs. We believe that each and every child and adult has a contribution to make to the ministry of the church and we try to serve one another and our local community. We host a weekly Lunch Club for the elderly and an exciting recent project is the Taste Community Café. Come and visit St. John’s - we would be delighted to welcome you. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him (Romans 15 verse 13) Antony Wilson, Vicar Contact us St. John's Church | Cauldwell Hall Road | Ipswich | IP4 4QE +44(0)1473 270978 | office@stjohnsipswich.org.uk the office is open 9.30 - 12.30 Monday to Friday How to find us! |
